Protocal for Releasing the Child to the Adoptive Family:

We have found it very helpful for the adoptive family to be present at the little children's home in the morning when the child first wakes.

    First Day:
  • 5:00 or 5:30 A.M Adoptive family arrives at the little children's home
  • Play time with child or child observes parents
  • 6:00 adoptive parents observes breakfast
  • 7:00 breakfast for the adoptive parents at Deborah and Darren Gustafson's house close to tlc. Child comes with.
  • 8:00 adoptive parents observe bathing child at tlc followed by playtime with child
  • 9:00 adoptive parents observe how child is put down for a nap
  • 9:30-11:00 adoptive parents either rest, email family, or play with other tlc children.
  • 11:00 adoptive parents feed child lunch at tlc
  • 12:00 lunch for adoptive family at Gustafson home together with child
  • 1:00 pm adoptive parents put child down for a nap
  • 1:30-3:00 pm adoptive parents rest either at hotel nearby or at Gustafson home.
  • 3:00 play with child at tlc
  • 5:00 adoptive parents feed child supper at tlc
  • 5:30 adoptive parents bathe child at tlc
  • 6:00 adoptive parents put child to sleep at tlc
Second Day:
Early again, 5:00 or 5:30 am at tlc when child wakes up. Same cycle as first day, but depending on the child, the child would take the second nap at the hotel with the family. If the child is not responding well we will wait until the 3rd day to release the child to the adoptive family. The signing of papers will happen at discharge.
