At Shiphrah we believe in the well-being of the whole woman, her mind, her body, and her spirit. We promote wholeness through the building of mutual relationships between woman, midwife, and family through dignified, excellent maternal health care, empowering education, and genuine friendship.

So, you want to be a midwife! Opportunities for Midwifery Internships
Located in Taytay, Rizal, Philippines, Shiphrah is officially recognized as an Out-of-Country site by National Association of Registered Midwives (NARM). Our midwives are also officially recognized as Preceptors by the National College of Midwifery (NCM). We are pleased to be able to offer midwifery intern opportunities that are designed around the needs of each student.
Education is a core value at Shiphrah. Beginning in January, we will have four intern slots available. Your learning experience at Shiphrah will be designed around your particular needs and the experience you may already have before you come to Shiphrah. The length of time you spend with us will depend on the particular requirements you will need to complete your training in your country of origin, coupled with past learning experiences that you may have had elsewhere. We are prepared to offer assistance with academics as well as ample opportunity for practicum experience. Our teaching style is that of mentoring. Each student will work one-on-one or occasionally as a small group with our midwives in an informal setting.
We are a Birthing Home at Shiphrah, not a formal school. The atmosphere is one of a home, not a clinic. Our passion is to see the dignity of our birthing mothers honored, her womanhood validated. It is our task to work hard to help her childbirth experience be a safe, nurturing, and affirming event in her life. We are co-learners, working and learning together as we walk alongside each birthing mother throughout her pregnancy. Every day is filled with learning opportunities.
As an intern working cross-culturally, you will encounter significant challenges that offer opportunity for both personal and professional growth. Shiphrah also provides opportunities to explore an expanded vision of midwife possibilities in such fields as counseling, advocacy, education, and community development. The life-opportunities available to the midwife are wide-ranging. It is our hope at Shiphrah that as an intern, you'll take the time to look around at the very wide world of service that can now become open to you.
